The University Health Services (UHS) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) has received a vehicle donation from AE Chase Energy to support its homecare services, aimed at improving access to care for patients, particularly elderly clients and those with mobility challenges.

The Director of the University Hospital, Dr. Nana Kwame Ofori Ayisi-Boateng, explained that the homecare initiative forms part of efforts to make healthcare delivery more patient-centred. He said many patients, especially elderly clients and stroke survivors, often face significant difficulties accessing hospital services due to transportation and mobility constraints.
“To address this gap, we reached out to a long-time associate and alumnus of the University, who responded promptly to the request,” the Director said. “Through his intervention, arrangements were made for the acquisition and delivery of this Changan Hunter pickup vehicle to support the service.”
Dr. Ayisi-Boateng expressed appreciation for the timely donation, describing it as a significant boost to the hospital’s operations. He added that the pickup vehicle would enhance the efficiency of the homecare programme and improve service delivery to patients who are unable to visit the hospital.

The donor, Mr. Emmanuel Aboagye, President of AE Chase Energy, said the gesture was motivated by a strong commitment to giving back to society and supporting his alma mater, which has contributed to his personal and professional growth and development.
He added that supporting healthcare delivery aligns with his broader values of assisting vulnerable populations and improving community wellbeing.
“It is important to give back to society, especially in ways that positively impact lives. Supporting healthcare delivery is one of the most meaningful ways to do so,” Mr. Aboagye said.
Mr. Aboagye also expressed his willingness to continue supporting the hospital and other initiatives within the University when the need arises.
Dedicating the vehicle, the Catholic Chaplain, Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Anthony Frangtana Naah, lauded Mr. Aboagye for his generosity in supporting efforts to ensure that the aged receive the necessary healthcare. He prayed for God’s guidance and continued blessings upon him for his benevolence.
